CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
The club is evolving and continues to have a good reputation, club members are on the increase and it appears we are quite popular.
I am proud to be part of a devoted committee; in the space of one year we have successfully run regular summer evening classes, seven working tests, one novice field trial, a field trial training day, two demonstrations, the Herefordshire Country Fair Interclub test, an end of term test and fun day, an annual dinner and presentation evening and a bumper boy training day.
Your committee welcome you to all these events and work hard to ensure that you enjoy them. We encourage club members to join in and offer their help in any way feasible. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee and members who have kindly given up their time to make all this possible.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish you all every success for the following year to come.
Thank you.

SECRETARY’S REPORT
Polly Dunkley moved from Herefordshire to Cumbria in 1998, I took over running the group of people that trained at Westhide. We formed a Committee in 2002, thought of a name and registered with the Kennel Club. That allowed us to hold working tests. Since we have applied and received permission to run Novice Field Trials. Jacki Addis is taking over and I wish her well. A show of hands of those in favour of Jacki Addis taking over as Secretary. The members voted in favour of Jacki Addis as Secretary. I will continue to run the training side and a member of the Committee. I would like to thank David Coode for his support as Treasurer. He is stepping down both as treasurer and committee member. Anna Yates is taking over as Treasurer. On behalf of everyone David I would like you to accept this gift as a token of our appreciation. Members were asked to vote by a show of hands in favour of Anna Yates as Treasurer. It was a unanimous decision in favour of Anna as Treasurer.
Many of you supported Hereford Country Fair in spite of the adverse weather conditions last August. We need your support this year at the new site Hampton Court, Bodenham. A delightful location providing the weather is kind. We are situated not too far away from the main entrance. Roger and I are having a site visit tomorrow.
Training envelopes are ready to be given out. There are ten classes altogether this year. Please make sure you carefully read all the information.
There is one person who has trained at Westhide with Kit Fraser here tonight. She has been an inspiration to us all, helpful with advice when someone has a difficult puppy or older dog and ready to tell us off when we are doing stupid things or not doing our homework. She stepped down as a full time trainer last year. At the time she assured me that she would take a class if someone was away. Felicity please would you accept this gift from the club as a token off our appreciation.
Finally I look forward to a happy and successful training season.

WORKING TEST SECRETARY’S REPORT
Once again we have had a very enjoyable year.
The novice and open tests took place at Ravenhill Court by kind permission of Mr Ron Treverton-Jones on May 24th we had twenty four dogs in the novice and eighteen dogs in the open. Thanks to all who ran a dog or helped in any way to make it a very enjoyable day. Our host invited us back in 2010.
The puppy, intermediate and veteran took place at Noverton Shoot on June 21st, by kind permission of the Spilsbury family, who have invited the club back.
Once again the Hereford Country Fair proved to be a very enjoyable day with all teams putting up a good performance. After the welcome and introducing the judges Mr John Jones and Mr Brian Gregory, the teams went on to the various tests, after a very competitive day, The Wye Valley Retriever Team were winners. The committee have decided the team with lowest number of points will drop out and allow the reserve team to run next year (2010). We had a very warm welcome for our gundog demonstration with the children.
The end of term tests and fun day were held by kind permission of Mr & Mrs Roger Raymond. Once again it was a wonderful day with a record entry at all levels. Some very good dog work, and nice to see so many club members taking part. This event is becoming very popular and allows members to compete in working tests without too much pressure. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a very successful day.
Field trial training day took place at Lulsley Court by kind permission of Mr Martin Cook at the beginning of September in a field of fodder beet. The judges Mr John Jones Mr Roger Wiggins were helpful and informative. Judging by the feedback everybody felt they had gained a little from the day. We hope to have at least one if not two days this year with the same format. Many thanks to our chief dog steward Claire Raymond, guns Fraser Hawkins and Steve Prosser, dummy throwers Morton Redpath and Ian Treadwell.
The puppy, junior handler, novice dog novice handler tests were held at Ravenhill Court by kind permission of Mr Ron Trevorton-Jones on September 6th 2009. We had a good entry and a very enjoyable day with the host presenting the awards and saying we could use the ground in the future as we are always welcome.
The Wye Valley Novice Field trial was held at Noverton Shoot by kind permission of Mr & Mrs Phil Spilsbury. Steward of the beat Mr Tom Spilsbury with Mr Dennis Heath, Mr Terry Dukes, Mr Mike Larkin and Mrs Kate Smith the judges. The trial got off to a good start with forty birds down for the first drive. The second drive produced a further twelve birds and a further twenty birds on the third. After which the judges had a result. Lunch was taken giving time to sort out the paperwork. Thanks to the guns and all who helped on the day.
